Confucianism is the most influential religion in China. In a strictly religious sense, Confucianism is not a religion but a way to ensure that one does the right thing. It advocates a code of behavior that is strict and rigid. Confucianism derives its name from its founder, Confucius, or "Kung-Fu-Tzu." Han dynasty established Confucianism as the state religion, and it enjoyed the status of state religion until 1911, which signaled the end of the imperial epoch. For more than 2000 years, Confucian teachings were the subject of civil service examinations.
