Determine whether the statement makes sense or does not make sense, and explain your reasoning. I can solve x/9=4/6 by using the cross-products principle or by multiplying both sides by 18, the least common denominator. Choose the correct answer below. A. The statement does not make sense. Multiplying the terms on both sides of the equation by the least common denominator will eliminate the fractions in the equation. However, the value of the missing quantity in a proportion cannot be found by using the cross-products principle if only three of the numbers are known. B. The statement makes sense. If three of the numbers in a proportion are known, the value of the missing quantity can be found by using the cross-products principle. Alternatively, multiplying the terms on both sides of the equation by the least common denominator will eliminate the fractions in the equation. C. The statement does not make sense. If three of the numbers in a proportion are known, the value of the missing quantity can be found by using the cross-products principle. However, the terms on both sides of the equation would need to be multiplied by 6 * 4=24, and not 18, to eliminate the fractions in the equation. D. The statement makes sense. If two of the numbers in a proportion are known, the value of the missing quantities can be found by using the cross-products principle. Alternatively, multiplying the terms on both sides of the equation by the least common denominator will eliminate the fractions in the equation.
The Cryptoqueen, also known as Ruja Ignatova, is a GermanBulgarian businesswoman, who founded an International cryptocurrency company called OneCoin. A cryptocurrency is digital money you can use to pay people online, without banks. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency and it is still the biggest and best-known. People have made a lot of money buying and selling bitcoins. Ruja Ignatova convinced a lot of people to invest their savings in OneCoin and then she disappeared with all their money. They admired, trusted and wanted to be like her. Ruja Ignatova was one of the most charismatic and glamorous businesswomen around, always appearing on stage wearing a ball gown, long diamond earrings and bright red lipstick. She seemed to be richer and more successful than everybody else. She owned a luxury yacht, rented a penthouse in London's exclusive Kensington district and threw expensive parties. She is also extremely intelligent and well-educated. She got a doctorate from Konstanz University in Germany, a Master's degree in Law from Oxford University in the UK, and worked at the established US management consultancy company McKinsey and Company. But things began to change for the Cryptoqueen. Some people suspected that OneCoin was a dishonest scheme. Despite this, Dr Ruja continued travelling the world looking for new investors. Then, in October 2017, she didn't appear at a OneCoin promotion event in Lisbon. In fact she had disappeared and nobody knew where she was. Many journalists, investors and the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were looking for her. In March 2019 the FBI arrested her brother Konstantin and charged him with fraud. They then also charged Ruja Ignatova with fraud, although they didn't know where she was. Some people think she has changed her identity and maybe even her face with expensive plastic surgery. It's impossible to be sure. But what is certain is that the people who lost their money to OneCoin are no closer to getting it back.
Listed below are the amounts of net worth (in millions of dollars) of the ten wealthiest celebrities in a country. Construct a 95% confidence interval. What does the result tell us about the population of all celebrities? Do the data appear to be from a normally distributed population as required? 249 202 187 175 162 153 153 153 150 148 150.2 million < mu < 196.2 million (Round to one decimal place as needed.) What does the result tell us about the population of all celebrities? Select the correct choice and, if necessary, fill in the answer box(es) to complete your choice. A. We are 95% confident that the interval from million to million actually contains the true mean net worth of all celebrities. (Round to one decimal place as needed.) B. We are confident that 95% of all celebrities have a net worth between million and million. (Round to one decimal place as needed.) C. Because the ten wealthiest celebrities are not a representative sample, this doesn't provide any information about the population of all celebrities. Do the data appear to be from a normally distributed population as required? Choose the correct answer. A. No, because there is a systematic pattern that is not a straight line pattern. B. No, but the points in the normal quantile plot lie reasonably close to a straight line and show some systematic pattern that is a straight line pattern. C. Yes, but the points in the normal quantile plot do not lie reasonably close to a straight line or show a systematic pattern that is a straight line pattern. D. Yes, because the pattern of the points in the normal quantile plot is reasonably close to a straight line.
